PRATT, W.Va. (AP) - State police say a Pratt man has been charged with multiple counts of fraud after he passed $17,775.90 in bad checks in West Virginia and Ohio.

The Charleston Daily Mail (https://bit.ly/1cBtuy6 ) reports 52-year-old Michael Gregory Murphy was apprehended on an active warrant Wednesday by Senior Trooper J.R. Powers after an investigation that began at least as early as Dec. 28. In a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha Magistrate Court, Murphy passed a bad check for $777.81 at 84 Lumber Company for various merchandise.

The complaint reports most of Murphy’s bad checks were passed in April and May. Powers says Murphy had warrants in Virginia and West Virginia.

It is unclear if Murphy has a lawyer.
