ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A Albuquerque man described by federal prosecutors as a career criminal has been sentenced to nearly 27 years in prison on convictions stemming from a 2014 armed robbery of a credit union.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 31-year-old Devin Jasperse was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Albuquerque on convictions for bank robbery and branding a firearm during a robbery.

Jasperse pleaded guilty March 5.

U.S. Attorney Damon P. Martinez said Jasperse was prosecuted under an anti-violence initiative targeting so-called “worst of the worst” offenders.
