GREENWICH, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a motorcyclist has died after being thrown over his handlebars at an upstate New York motocross park.

The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports (https://bit.ly/1Kfk5de ) that 31-year-old Thomas Gale, of Ballston Spa, New York was pronounced dead at the scene after the accident on Thursday night at the Parker MX motocross track in Greenwich, about 40 miles north of Albany.

Police say Gale lost control on a dirt track trying to land after a “triple jump” and was thrown over the handlebars. He suffered severe head and internal injuries even though he was wearing a helmet and protective padding.

Other motorcyclists on the track performed CPR in an effort to save Gale.

Police say there was no sign of impairment and no other motorcycles were involved.
