HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Former UAB football player Greg Maclin has died from injuries sustained in a wreck.

Huntsville police spokesman Lt. Darryl Dawson says 19-year-old Maclin died Friday afternoon at Huntsville Hospital.

Police say Maclin was a passenger in a Dodge Charger at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday that drifted onto the shoulder of the road and struck one of two vehicles which were pulled over. Police say three others were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Maclin played in all 12 games for the Blazers as a sophomore, making 15 tackles, after sustaining a season-ending ankle injury in 2013.

UAB coach Bill Clark said in a statement that the team and staff are deeply saddened by Maclin’s death.

UAB disbanded the program after the 2014 season but is reinstating it.
