TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - U.S. Postal Service investigators are working to catch mail thieves that have become more prevalent in southern Arizona.

KOLD-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1JrnYNh) Tucson-based Phoenix Division U.S. Postal Inspector David Birch says investigations have led to roughly a dozen arrests in the past year, the worst he’s seen in nearly two decades on the job.

Birch said mail theft usually occurs around the holidays and at night, but thieves have started working year-round and during daylight hours.

Mail theft can be reported to the postal service.
