LAWMAKER SEEKING DISMISSAL OF PAYOFF CHARGES STEMMING FROM INFORMANT POSING AS LOBBYIST

Rep. Louise Bishop, a Philadelphia Democrat, is accused of accepting $1,500 to “stack” a liquor control committee to help push legislation to privatize the state-controlled system on behalf of the informant’s phantom client. Her lawyers want the charges dismissed because of delays in the case and what they say is racial bias.

PHILADELPHIA AUTHORITIES INVESTIGATE POLICE SHOOTING OF ERRATIC MOTORIST

Rudolph Keitt struck four officers with his car and was shot by police after a commanding officer apparently called off the chase. He’s charged with attempted homicide, but his lawyer insists Keitt was having a seizure caused by a reaction to new schizophrenia medicine.

OFF-DUTY DETECTIVE FATALLY SHOOTS 1 OF 2 SUSPECTS IN PIZZA SHOP ROBBERY

Chief Inspector Scott Small says two men entered the Philadelphia shop last night, put a gun to the head of the detective, took $20 out of his hands and forced him to the floor. As the two announced they were robbing the shop, the detective identified himself, pulled his weapon and one suspect fired at least two shots. The detective fatally shot one suspect, and the other ran away.

JUDGE SAYS SURVEILLANCE VIDEO OF TROOPER’S ASSASSINATION WILL REMAIN SEALED

Media organizations including The Associated Press asked for a redacted version of the video, but Pike County Judge Gregory Chelak agreed to keep it sealed. The video was shown at a preliminary hearing for anti-government survivalist Eric Frein, who is charged with first-degree murder and related offenses in a Sept. 12 ambush that killed on trooper and critically wounded another.

EPA SAYS FRACKING HASN’T CAUSED WIDESPREAD HARM TO DRINKING WATER

But the agency says U.S. water supplies could be harmed by the natural gas drilling technique if safeguards are not maintained.
