EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - It may be the Women’s World Cup, but FIFA’s matchtracker started the tournament by referring to the athletes as men.

For the opening match between host Canada and China on Saturday, the matchtracker on FIFA.com repeatedly commented on players’ efforts as “his.”

“It is a technical issue that we are aware of and are working on as a priority,” FIFA said in an email.

The matchtracker changed the references to “her” at around halftime.
