DURANT, Iowa (AP) - The driver of a semitrailer has died after a fiery crash on Interstate 80 west of Durant.

The Des Moines Register reports (https://dmreg.co/1KgJsvi ) that the crash occurred just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

An Iowa State Patrol report says the crash occurred when a semi and a minivan were slowing to a stop on the interstate for construction. A second semi crashed into the back of the first - also hitting the minivan - when its driver apparently failed to notice slowing traffic.

Investigators say the second semi wedged underneath the trailer of the first, then burst into flames.

The driver of that second semi was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the minivan and the first semi were uninjured.
