PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) - Police say a Palm Springs man was carjacked and kidnapped by a man who said he had a weapon and demanded to be driven to Desert Hot Springs.

The Desert Sun reports (https://desert.sn/1Ggcg5s ) that the victim drove to Desert Hot Springs and is unharmed after the Friday night incident.

Once in Desert Hot Springs, the driver left his car and called 911 from a nearby business. The suspect drove away.

Palm Springs Police say they found the car and chased the driver for three minutes before the vehicle crashed into a street sign.

Police did not catch the suspect, who ran into the desert.
