PRESTON, Md. (AP) - A Towson University freshman is running 390 miles across Maryland to raise money for an organization that provides prosthetic limbs to those in need.

Caitlin Adams has raised more than $16,000 for the Oklahoma-based charity Limbs for Life. The 18-year-old says every $2,500 she raises can pay for a prosthetic limb for someone who needs one.

Adams, who is from Preston, Maryland, began her journey May 23 in Cumberland and had run more than 160 miles as of Thursday. She plans to finish her run in Ocean City on June 27.

She says a 2-year-old with a prosthetic limb will finish the last couple of steps of the run with her.
