PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police have released the identity of a man who was fatally shot at a bus stop following an argument.

Police identified 27-year-old Justin “New York” Gerena on Saturday as the shooting victim killed while at a west Phoenix bus stop.

According to authorities, Gerena and two others were sitting at the stop at the corner of 27th and Northern avenues Thursday night.

They say the male suspect was walking on the opposite side of the street and began yelling obscenities at one of them.

Police say more words were exchanged and then the suspect allegedly fired a handgun at the group, striking Gerena and another person.

The second victim was hospitalized and is expected to recover.

Police say the suspect, who is described as black, fled the scene.
