PROVO, Utah (AP) - The state agents assigned to investigate a deadly shooting by police in Roosevelt last month have turned the case over to the Utah County Attorney’s Office.

KSL-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1FB7MCI ) that deputy Utah County attorney Marianne O’Bryant said Friday her office has received a large amount of information and is still waiting on more.

O’Bryant says it will be several weeks before the office reaches a decision about whether Roosevelt Police Lt. Pete Butcher was legally justified in using deadly force against Kevin Vance Norton.

Norton was involved in a May 3 standoff with police after officers received reports that an armed man was behaving erratically near Uintah Basin Medical Center.

The State Bureau of Investigation says a body camera captured footage of the standoff and shooting.
