CASTAIC, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say one person was killed and four others injured after a vehicle flipped over on Interstate 5 near Castaic, then fell about 100 feet off the side of the road.

California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball says the rollover crash, which was reported about 2:30 p.m. Sunday, led to the closure of one southbound lane of the busy freeway.

A dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department said one person was pronounced dead at the scene. Cheryl Sims said three children and one adult were taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The crash occurred at the portion of I-5 where the Grapevine comes to an end.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
