DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A Tennessee businessman has purchased Daytona Beach’s minor league baseball team.

Reese Smith said last week that he has bought the Daytona Tortugas. The Class A Florida State League team had been owned since 2001 by Cleveland businessman Andy Rayburn.

Smith says he has no plans to make changes to the team’s operations.

The team was previously known as the Daytona Cubs, but it changed its affiliation last year and joined the Cincinnati Reds organization. During the transition, the team’s name was changed to the Tortugas.
