LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Authorities have released the identity of a man who was fatally stabbed during a party at a Las Cruces area home.

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s deputies identified 20-year-old Carlos Contreras on Sunday as the victim of a stabbing early Saturday at a party in the East Mesa area.

Contreras was airlifted to an El Paso hospital, where he died during surgery.

No arrests have been made.

Investigators are following several leads but anyone with information should contact authorities.

Deputies say the report of the stabbing was the second call they responded to at the residence that day.

They responded earlier to a noise complaint.

Contreras’ death marks the second homicide in the county so far this year.
