SUMTER, S.C. (AP) - The Board of Directors at Tuomey Healthcare System has chosen a longtime employee to be the Sumter hospital’s new acting president and CEO.

The Sumter Item reports (https://bit.ly/1QfS3TV ) that Michelle Logan-Owens was selected for her new job Friday.

Logan-Owens has worked for Tuomey for more than 20 years, most recently as a vice president.

Logan-Owens is a Pinewood native who started working at Tuomey as a clinical technician before becoming a nurse in the oncology unit.

She has an undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina and earned her doctorate in health care administration from Medical University of South Carolina last year.

Logan-Owens says she will work diligently to make sure the rural hospital’s best days are ahead of it.
