BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - It turns out Gov. Bobby Jindal’s presidential campaign decision won’t be announced in New Orleans exactly, but in the nearby suburb of Kenner.

The Republican governor intends to announce his decision on the 2016 race June 24.

Jindal’s chief political adviser, Timmy Teepell, had said last week that the event would be in New Orleans. A website set up by Jindal’s campaign exploratory committee shows the announcement will be in Kenner, at the Pontchartrain Center.

When he was a congressman, Jindal lived in Kenner and represented the New Orleans suburbs.

Teepell said Monday that Kenner’s location along Interstate 10 was convenient for people both in New Orleans and traveling from elsewhere. He also says it’s a short drive from the restaurant Drago’s “which has the best broiled oysters in America.”
