MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) - Central Michigan University’s main administration building remains temporarily closed after elevated asbestos levels were recently found.

The Mount Pleasant school says Warriner Hall will remain closed early this week after abatement crews expanded their work to include return ductwork on the first, second and third floors and the mechanical room in the basement. No reopening date has been set.

The building was closed in late May. Findings were based on air samples after crews working on water lines noticed insulation and old pipes in a large air duct in the building’s crawl space. Officials say more recent air-quality tests have come back OK.

Employees were reassigned temporarily to work at other campus locations or from home. The insulation and pipes likely came from pre-1975 work.
