FARGO, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota’s largest city is ramping up its mosquito fighting campaign.

Officials in the Fargo area say that heavy rain and hot weather have combined to triple the number of mosquitoes showing up in traps in the past week.

Cass County Vector Control director Ben Prather (PRAY’-ther) tells KFGO radio that if ground spraying doesn’t get the population under control, it’s possible that aerial spraying will be conducted later in the week.

Ground spraying is also scheduled in West Fargo and neighboring Moorhead, Minnesota.
