VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - A Glendale man has been arrested in Ventura on suspicion of impersonating a police officer.

The Ventura County Star reports (https://bit.ly/1T6qc7y ) that police received reports of four suspicious males standing around a police car. One of the males was reportedly seen putting on a police uniform.

Police say they found one man wearing a full Los Angeles Police Department uniform, including a badge and a duty belt with a gun. The suspect told officers he was an active off-duty police officer.

Police say they found that the man was not with LAPD and was not a police officer. The patrol car was reported stolen from LAPD in 2012.

Police impounded the cruiser and arrested the man on charges of impersonating a police officer and carrying a firearm.
