MILLERSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Police say a driver accidentally backed over and killed a 7-year-old girl in Millersville.

The Tennessean (https://tnne.ws/1cFYptg) reports the 48-year-old driver told police that he’d had one can of beer at home on Saturday before he decided to visit a group of nearby friends. He climbed in his vehicle and backed over the 7-year-old girl in a driveway he shared with her parents.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. She had been playing in the front yard of her home when she somehow fell into the shared gravel driveway.

The driver has not been charged pending results of a toxicology test. Authorities say if toxicology results indicate the unidentified driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident, he would likely be charged with reckless homicide.
