SEDONA, Ariz. (AP) - Police in the Arizona tourist town of Sedona say a driver may have shot himself before his SUV crossed a highway’s center line and collided with an oncoming car, killing two people in that vehicle.

Police Lt. Lucas Wilcoxson says a handgun was found in the SUV following the afternoon Sunday on State Route 89A.

Wilcoxson identified the dead SUV driver as 48-year-old Ross Willoughby, who had addresses in several Verde Valley communities.

Wilcoxson says police aren’t sure if Willoughby shot himself, but he says it’s considered a “high possibility.” He says a medical condition is another possibility.

According to Wilcoxson, two people in the car were killed, and a third was injured. Their identities were withheld pending notification of relatives.
