SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A prosecuting attorney says there is reason to believe members of the Pasco Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office leaked information to a murder suspect, but Pasco police and the Franklin County Sheriff dispute the claim.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://is.gd/0cfYhe ) that Pasco Police Department spokesman Capt. Ken Roske released a statement late Saturday that the prosecutor’s claim is incorrect.

Spokane County Prosecutor Larry Haskell said Sunday that he has heard no new information about the allegations since Friday.

Spokane police last month identified Richard Aguirre, a former Pasco police officer, as a suspect in the 1986 killing of 27-year-old Ruby Doss through a DNA match.

Aguirre is currently held in the Spokane County Jail on $1 million bond on charges of first-degree murder and voyeurism
