Spike TV will edit out a mild joke Clint Eastwood made about Caitlyn Jenner during the recording of Spike TV Guys’ Choice 2015 awards Saturday night.

The website Hollywood Life first reported that the “American Sniper” director made the crack while introducing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for an award during the program shot from Sony Pictures Studio in Culver City, California.

Mr. Eastwood, 85, compared Mr. Johnson to former athletes who have become actors such as “Jim Brown and Caitlyn somebody.”

David Schwarz, Spike TV senior vice president of communications, confirmed the quote and said the joke will be edited out before the special airs on June 18.

“We will remove the reference in the version that will air,” he told USA Today.

Caitlyn Jenner is the female identity of former Olympian Bruce Jenner, who came out as transgender in April and debuted as a woman for the first time June 1 on the front cover of Vanity Fair.
