TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Police officers in Toledo will be getting new body cameras by the middle of summer.

Toledo’s mayor and police chief announced Friday that the city has bought 43 of the cameras and expect them to arrive in July.

The Blade newspaper in Toledo reports that the cameras will be worn by second-shift patrol officers.

The department’s motorcycle unit has eight of the body cameras in use now.

Several cities around the state are adding the body cameras or looking into the idea.
