INDIANA, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania university student has waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges that he raped two female students in one weekend last month.

The Indiana Gazette (https://bit.ly/1F4iMqO ) reports that 22-year-old Jose Aponte Jr. of Philadelphia waived the hearing last week in Indiana District Court.

Prosecutors allege that he assaulted one student in May after she blacked out from having consumed alcohol, and she found out in a text message exchange the following morning that they had had sex.

Prosecutors allege that the second woman was also drunk but tried to fight Aponte off as he removed her clothes, choked her and sexually assaulted her.

Indiana university, one of 14 state-owned schools, is located in the borough of the same name about 45 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
