WEST MILFORD, W.Va. (AP) - The Department of Commerce plans to demolish the pool at Watters Smith State Park instead of repairing it.

The pool has been closed since 2012.

Commerce spokeswoman Chelsea Ruby tells The Exponent Telegram (https://bit.ly/1T6NxWS ) that repairs would have cost millions of dollars. She says the pool also had low usage, sometimes less than 12 people per day.

Ruby says the pool will be replaced with a picnic area and kitchen.

Harrison County Commissioner Ron Watson says the state could have done more to maintain and market the pool.
