MONROE, La. (AP) - Authorities have identified three people who died in a fatal fire in Monroe.

The News-Star (https://tnsne.ws/1MDEfx1) reports firefighters responded to a residential structure fire Sunday morning. Authorities say the victims of the blaze were 60-year-old Charles Harris, 61-year-old Sam Myles and Jerry Johnson, whose age is unknown.

Three other people escaped. They have been identified as 54-year-old Carl Martin, 48-year-old Cassandra Floyd and 47-year-old Anthony Welch. Floyd was not injured. Martin and Welch are being treated for smoke inhalation.

Authorities say the residence is known to be associated with drug activity.

Fire investigators said the blaze originated in Harris’ room. Investigators found the remnants of thousands of dollars inside the room along with drug paraphernalia.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
