NAPLES, Fla. (AP) - Collier County Sheriff’s deputies say a Naples man who arranged to meet with a 14-year-old boy for sex was instead greeted by officers who arrested him.

The Naples Daily News (https://bit.ly/1FG4Rsk ) reports 24-year-old Jose Alejandro Franco was arrested by deputies Sunday. A report says Franco met the boy through an unnamed cellphone app. The boy’s father found the messages and reported them.

The report says Franco sent obscene photos and videos of himself and said he wanted to perform sex acts on the 14-year-old. Deputies assumed the profile of the boy and chatted with Franco.

When he saw deputies, Franco accelerated toward their vehicles, striking a cruiser in an apparent attempt to escape. Franco faces two felony charges. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
