TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Arizona State University police are warning students, especially those from other countries, to be aware of an ongoing telephone scam.

KPHO-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1DEuvi4) that two international students were contacted by telephone in January by someone claiming to be either from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol or the IRS.

In both cases, the caller requested money from the student in exchange for avoiding arrest.

Campus police say anyone who gets such calls should hang up immediately and contact them.
