OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) - Tim Kenney is taking over as St. Bonaventure’s athletic director.

The school made the announcement on Tuesday. Kenney spent the past six years as an executive associate athletic director at St. Bonaventure’s Atlantic-10 Conference rival, Massachusetts. He will start his new job next month.

He replaces Steve Watson, who left in December to become the AD at Loyola Chicago.

Kenney was responsible for generating revenue and helped secure a $10 million gift for UMass athletics. He also oversaw the Minutemen men’s basketball program, which reached the NCAA tournament last season.

Kenney is from western New York. He grew up on Grand Island and was a member of the University at Buffalo’s swim team in the early 1990s.

He’s been at UMass since 2004, and previously worked at Stony Brook.
