LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Corry Area High School’s Brent Benedict has broken the Class AA Boys 100 butterfly record twice during the opening day of the four-day PIAA Class AA Swimming and Diving Championships at Bucknell University.

Benedict is a senior. He finished his preliminary swim Wednesday afternoon in 48.41 seconds, breaking the previous mark of 48.56 by York Suburban’s Kevin Marsteller in 2009.

Benedict lowered the record again by touching the wall at 48.01 seconds in Wednesday night’s finals at Kinney Natatorium.

Benedict was one of two returning PIAA AA boys champions swimming on Wednesday. The other was West Allegheny’s Jarod Kehl in the 200 freestyle. Kehl lost to Salisbury Township’s Mahlon Reihman.

Reihman finished in 1:40.92, Kehl in 1:40.93.
