DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - DeKalb County prosecutors say two men accused of shooting and injuring two police officers have been indicted by a grand jury.

District Attorney’s spokesman Erik Burton says 39-year-old Eddie Ball and 37-year-old Ivy Shumake are charged in a 63-count indictment in the December 12 shooting of two officers at a suburban Atlanta complex.

Police have said officers were responding to calls about a home invasion robbery when Shumake and Ball opened fire on the officers and fled the scene. One officer was shot in his thigh and another was shot in his calf. Both were hospitalized.

Ball and Shumake are charged with aggravated assault on a peace officer, armed robbery and home invasion.

It’s unclear if Ball and Shumake have attorneys and an arraignment date hasn’t been set.
