SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A 30-year-old man has been indicted on charges he killed his boyfriend during an argument last August inside a Syracuse home.

David Davis, accused of strangling 36-year-old Dale Schantz, was indicted Tuesday on second-degree manslaughter, strangulation and endangering the welfare of a child charges. He’s accused of “recklessly” causing Schantz’s death, but not intending to.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the victim in cardiac arrest. Schantz was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

An autopsy by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide, and that the altercation contributed to the victim’s death.

Police said Davis’s 5-year-old son was in the house during the attack.

The manslaughter charge carries a maximum of 15 years in prison.
