DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) - San Diego County authorities say a woman has been struck and killed by a train in Del Mar.

The Sheriff’s Department says before dawn Thursday the operator of a southbound Coaster passenger train sounded its horn to warn the woman but she did not move off the tracks.

The operator activated the emergency braking system but the train was unable to stop before hitting the woman.

The woman died at the scene near the intersection of 15th Street and Coast Boulevard. She was not immediately identified.
