CRYSTAL LAKE, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say a 4-year-old boy reported missing at a north Iowa lake was pulled from it hours later and taken to an area hospital.

Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Mark Miller tells the Mason City Globe Gazette (https://bit.ly/1FexDmF ) that the boy was discovered around 5 p.m. Friday in the water about 100 feet off the shore. He had been reported missing by his family around 2 p.m.

Authorities have not released the name of the boy or his family or the boy’s condition.

Miller says the boy was last seen on shore. Rescue workers and searchers had been searching the edge of the park and in the open water on the southeast side of the park.

The lake still has considerable ice cover, but has large areas of open water.
