FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - Authorities in Farmington say a man is dead and a woman was seriously injured after a late night stabbing.

The Farmington Daily Times reports (https://bit.ly/18LyJJP ) police were called around 11:15 p.m. Friday to respond to a report of two people being stabbed.

Responding officers found a 23-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center, where she is in critical condition.

Farmington police say they located a suspect at a Shell gas station about 15 minutes later.

They found a 27-year-old man with stab wounds shortly after apprehending the suspect. The male victim was unconscious at the Nevada Trailer Court.

Despite resuscitation efforts, police pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police are not releasing the names of the suspect or the victims.
