NEW STANTON, Pa. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a shooting death at a western Pennsylvania hotel over the weekend.

State police in Westmoreland County say 31-year-old Brandon Gray of New Kensington was shot at the New Stanton Garden Inn in New Stanton just before midnight Saturday.

Police said Gray was taken to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office, which handled the case, said he died of a gunshot wound to the trunk.

State police opened a homicide investigation but declined further comment on the case.
