BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A western New York man has pleaded guilty in a fatal hit and run.

Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita says 26-year-old Matthew Jurek of Akron pleaded guilty Monday to leaving the scene of a deadly accident.

He faces up to seven years in prison when he’s sentenced in April.

Prosecutors say Jurek had just left a bar on Jan. 4 when his pickup truck struck and killed pedestrian Francis Meldrum in the town of Newstead.

A witness said Jurek got out of his truck and then got back in and drove away.
