TEXARKANA, Texas (AP) - Five men have pleaded guilty to theft of government property in a billing scam at the Red River Army Depot in Texas.

The Texarkana Gazette ( ) reported Wednesday that the men are expected to repay a combined $1.3 million in the scheme over tires, repair services and equipment.

The Red River Army Depot, about 10 miles east of Texarkana, employs a large civilian workforce. Seven men, including vendors and workers, were indicted in September.

Anthony Paul Vera, Kenneth Ray Shackelford and William Robert Barr pleaded guilty this month. William Randall Scott and Rodney Glen Cornelius earlier pleaded guilty. All await sentencing. They face probation to up to 10 years in prison.

Former Bowie (BOO’-ee) County Justice of the Peace Patrick James and Shaun Dennis Knorr await trial.
