CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A Charlotte woman has been shot and injured in her home and her husband is worried that the family may have been the target of a hate crime.
Multiple media outlets reported that as many as 18 bullets were fired into the couple’s fence and home early Tuesday.
The man identified only as Abdul said he did not know if the shooting was random or if they were targeted because of their Muslim faith.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Capt. Chuck Henson said investigators will not know about the possibility of a hate crime until they make an arrest.
One bullet went through a second-floor window, striking the woman in the thigh as she slept.
Henson said the woman was in stable condition and is expected to recover.
