ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Maryland Del. Jay Walker says he’s exploring a potential run for Congress.

Walker, a Prince George’s County Democrat, said in an interview after session Wednesday night in Annapolis that he is giving serious consideration to running for the U.S. House seat that will be open when Rep. Donna Edwards runs for Sen. Barbara Mikulski’s seat. He has launched an exploratory committee.

Walker has been a member of the Maryland House of Delegates since 2007. He is the chairman of the Prince George’s County delegation.

Former Prince George’s County Council chair Ingrid Turner and Del. Joseline Pena-Melnyk announced that they were running for the seat on Tuesday.

Former Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown and former Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Glenn Ivey also have announced they are running.
