ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Anne Arundel County police say a Baltimore man fled a St. Patrick’s Day sobriety checkpoint, then led police on a chase that ended in a fiery crash.

Police say officers tried to stop a car near Bestgate Road and state Route 50 in Annapolis on Tuesday night. But police say the failed to stop and they caught up with him after he crashed near Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and his car burst into flames.

Police say the driver, 34-year-old Marvis Pollock was found to be under the influence of drugs and he was charged with four counts of assault related to four people inside the three cars his car struck, driving while impaired and other offenses.

Police say three people in the other vehicles were taken to hospital for evaluation.
