SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Testimony is set to begin in the murder trial of a prominent central New York doctor charged with killings his wife inside their mansion in 2012.

Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick and Edward Menkin, defense lawyer for Dr. Robert Neulander, gave their opening statements Tuesday in county court.

The 63-year-old obstetrician-gynecologist is charged with second-degree murder in the death of his 61-year-old wife, Leslie.

Prosecutors say Neulander killed her in a fit of rage inside their home in DeWitt on Sept. 17, 2012. Neulander told police he found his wife injured in the shower.

The couple’s daughter, Jenna, was at home at the time and made a 911 call during which she said “there’s blood everywhere.”

Witnesses are scheduled to begin testimony on Wednesday morning.
