DENVER (AP) - The Aurora City Council has approved a ban on the open carry of firearms at the city’s municipal center.

The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/1CTkPn2 ) councilmembers approved the ban during a study session Monday. On two previous occasions, people with guns visibly strapped to their belts attended the Council’s meetings.

Councilman Bob LeGare, chairman of the Public Safety Committee, says he respects the Second Amendment but has little patience for people who are trying to make a show by disrupting city operations.

At a city council meeting Feb. 2, two men walked into the Aurora Municipal Center, each with a pistol strapped to his belt, and joined the crowd gathering to watch the meeting. On March 16, the same two men and a woman returned, all wearing guns.
