NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Newark Police have charged a man with driving under the influence of alcohol after a passenger in his car was killed in a crash.

It happened about 1:20 a.m. Monday on South College Avenue. Officers say 35-year-old Terrance Anderson of Newark traveling south when his car left the road and hit a tree.

Authorities say a passenger in Anderson’s car, 30-year-old Millard Lofland of Wilmington, was taken to Christiana Hospital, where he died.

Police say Anderson was treated at Christiana Hospital, and was arrested after he was released. He is charged with DUI and vehicular homicide.
