CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Early voting has opened in local elections in Illinois, with a number of mayoral and village president races at stake.

The election takes place April 7, and early voting began Monday. Included among races is the Chicago mayoral runoff between Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Cook County Commissioner Jesus “Chuy” Garcia.

The News-Gazette (https://bit.ly/1FRPkbW ) reports there’s also a four-way mayoral race in Champaign and incumbents being challenged in Clinton, Danville and Ludlow. A proposal for a new high school in Champaign is also on the ballot.
