WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) - The Walla Walla County coroner’s office says an autopsy reveals that a 28-year-old Washington State Penitentiary inmate died last week of a pulmonary embolism.

Michael Chadd Boysen had been serving a life sentence without parole for strangling his grandparents in March 2013 in their Renton-area home. He died March 18.

The state Department of Corrections said Boysen lost consciousness when he returned to his cell after taking a shower. Prison staff attempted to revive him but he was pronounced dead.

The man’s grandparents, 82-year-old Robert Taylor and 80-year-old Norma Taylor, were killed after they picked up their grandson following his completion of a previous prison sentence for robbery.
