PITTSBURGH (AP) - Authorities in western Pennsylvania say a suspect was arrested after a transit agency police officer was pinned between two vehicles and fired his weapon.

Police said the Port Authority of Allegheny County officer wasn’t seriously injured and refused treatment following the events Monday afternoon.

Officials said the officer was investigating reports of drug activity in a park-and-ride lot in the Sheraden neighborhood when he spotted a man he believed to be using drugs in a sport utility vehicle.

Port Authority spokesman Jim Ritchie said the officer approached but the driver put the SUV in reverse, pinning the officer between his vehicle and another vehicle.

Ritchie said the officer fired two shots, hitting the vehicle but not the driver, who fled. Police later stopped a vehicle and arrested a 21-year-old suspect.
