ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - A teacher, custodian and principal in Aberdeen have been recognized for saving the life of a student.

Physical education teacher Lucus Howard, custodian Bill Podoll and Principal Mike Neubert came to the rescue of a first-grade student who collapsed during a March 4 gym class at May Overby Elementary School, using CPR and a recently installed defibrillator.

The American News reports (https://bit.ly/1DSrVYE ) that officials with Aberdeen Fire and Rescue presented plaques to the school officials during a school board meeting Monday night.

Superintendent Becky Guffin says the student has recovered and is back in class.
